----------------------------------------------------

WenGore Death for The Scrapyard:  Hi Wira, thanks for doing this interview.  Since many SY readers are not familiar with your band, please tell us a little bit about Scent of Carnage.
Wira, Scent of Carnage: First and foremost, we from Scent of Carnage would like to thank and dedicate all our success to the Scrap Yard Magazines for organizing this interview. We are
truly honored for having us around. As for your kind information, Scent of Carnage is a Death Metal band established in March 2010 from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia namely, me as the (vocal), Adly Fikry (Guitar/Lead) and Ajis (Guitar/Lead), Adi (Bassist) and Mohd Khalid (Drummer).

WGD: Congrats on Scent of Carnage’s first single release. I am impressed with the promo CDR which looks professionally done.  Why did you choose this route instead of making CD-Rs with Xeroxed labels?
W: Thanks for taking note of it as we are genuinely serious about coming up with quality materials for our listeners to meet their satisfaction and this would also stop our listeners from disputing the fact that, Scent of Carnage will stand as a band that would never stop the production of professional quality material for their listeners.

WGD:  As I was listening to "Invest your sin" track,
I noticed there's strong influence of Vital Remains in the song. Could you please explain what the other influences are for Scent of Carnage?
W: `Invest Your Sin’ happens to be our first single that we personally love, and the strong
influences from Vital Remains probably came from the rest of band members as Vital Remains has always been our personal favorite and our second song namely, 'Impure Adoration' is influenced by the likes of Ingested, Decapitated and also Eighty Thousand Dead . Both of the songs were composed by Adly Fikry, our guitarist and the lyrics were written by me, then it is organized and improvised by the entire band members.

WGD: What has been the response to "Invest your sin"?
W: The response received for ‘Invest Your Sin had been great thus far as we have received plenty of support from metal heads here in Malaysia. Invest Your Sin happened to be the favorite for the old school metal head supporters, on the same note, Impure Adoration is preferred by those who enjoys groove riffing and slamming breakdowns. Without a doubt and with no further dispute, we would say that both of our songs gained positive responses. In the near future, we will be experimenting sounds by incorporating different elements into each of our tracks in our EP to ensure that they have subgenres such as technical/groove/sludge/slamming/ etc and mainly emphasize death metal.

WGD: After the release of “Invest Your Sin”, do you guys plan to release any merchandise or CD in the near future?
W: After successfully releasing our demo, we will probably be producing new music by next
year which means around 2012 January and we are also looking forward to produce our band t-shirts and some bumper stickers for our supporters.

WGD: Being relatively a new band, how often does Scent of Carnage perform live? Apart from that, is it difficult for the band to perform and to practice on a regular basis while also maintain jobs?
W: Scent of Carnage usually do get invitation for gigs around Kuala Lumpur and on the
same note, outside of Kuala Lumpur too, during the weekends. Although there are a
lot of other things to be done, such as profession, it’s often difficult to choose from all
and fit them into our schedule. Some of the offer we received was declined due to our
profession and also due to the last minutes of the event. We would appreciate if we
are being informed as early as possible by the organizers leaving us sufficient time to
plot our leave and practice.

WGD: Do you guys have aspirations to join any major labels?
W: Our prime target would be Earache Records. We have felt their sense of responsibility and their professionalism in managing their band which happens to be utterly flawless. We have also been invited by some of the other labels in Malaysia, but we are currently still in the midst of experimenting our music. We will send it to all the labels that we have known once we have the true brutality with our E.P that would be coming next year. We would be anxiously waiting for their offer.

WGD: Given an opportunity to share a split CD with, what bands would you guys look forwards to share the split with?
W: We are looking forward to sharing a split CD with Ventorior from Malaysia and Aegeon
or Kamikabe from United States of America.

WGD: With the increasing amount of Death Metal acts around Malaysia, and around the world, what makes SoC different from the rest?
W: What makes Scent of Carnage unique is it is played by riff improvisation, drum lines are more towards blasting method approach with double pedal technique, bass arrangement are more towards the running scale and throughout the vocal method I have experiment with guttural, inhale and exhale kind of style. The song arrangement are unique in terms of we have mix old school and modern Death Metal and it is a genre that both of the metal heads easily can feel our message.

WGD: Will there be any chance of Scent of Carnage performing out of Malaysia?
W: We are looking forward to opportunities whereby, any organizers would be helpful enough to bring out the best in us by granting us the opportunity to perform live out of Malaysia. We would be more then glad to accept such offers.

WGD: Thanks so much for your time, is there anything that you would like to add?
W: Once again, a huge amount of thanks from Scent of Carnage to the Scrap Yard Magazine. This happens to be the beginning of our journey and expect more to come from us. Appreciate the all support that we received thus far from all the fellow metal heads. Stay sick guys.
